maxi Color is great, but applies sort of translucent and uneven. Around the inside of my lips it peels off and gets on my teeth after less than an hour of wear, while the outer parts of my lips it stays on quite aggressively.

Rozarooni I've rated this before, but I've been through a boatload of lipstick since then so I'm gonna update.

Look, clearly one product doesn't work on everyone, but after reading so many reviews, I can't help but feel that maybe some peeps just aren't using this correctly. There is a secret to using this and getting it to last and so I'mma gonna share and HOPE it works for you as well.

1.) Exfoliate your lips using your toothbrush or one of those little, disposable lash applicators they have for free at cosmetic counters. Be gentle and just get any extra skin bits off so lips can absorb color evenly.

2.) Moisturize your lips in the evening before bed and NOT right before you apply this. This is a stain and waxy chapsticks and oily lip balms are just going to keep the color from adhering...so before ya hop in bed...slather on your favorite lip balm...or at least a few hours before you apply this.

3.) Apply the color in a single, thin layer. WAYYYYYY too much comes off on the applicator and so I usually slide it along the inside to remove any heavy color. I glide it along my exfoliated (previously balmed, now clean,) lips. Then, despite years of being told to smack our lips or blot...I do NEITHER. I just let it sit there and dry..and dry. I'm talking a good five solid minutes before I move onto the next step.

4.) I lightly mist my lips with Urban Decay's "All Nighter". You can use any setting spray. UD also has an amazing "Dew" one that moisturizes, so give that a whirl. That sets the lips PERFECTLY and if my entire face is done..my eye make up will last well into the wee hours and yes, survives naps, but I digress...

5.) THEN, I apply the gloss in a single, thin layer...and spritz again with setting spray of my choice.

6.) Leave them alone for a minute or two! DO NOT!! I repeat do NOT EVER blot with a tissue or pop your lips, rub 'em together...that doesn't work with this product. Letting is sink in and absorb the stain is your best bet.

Your lips should look FAB for hours and hours...even after a drink, dining, etc. It's natural to lose some color, but use the gloss instead and then and only then...you can smack and pucker all you please to get the color even. People always freak that my lipstick stays in place. Now, I have a few other favorite sticks and brands, but this is economical and perfect for when you need a long, wearing color and want a hint of shine. SO....stop smacking, get some setting spray and give it a whirl. Worse case scenario...keep a little moisturize cloth with make-up remover in a baggie or a portable packet and take it all off it it gets messy on ya. Sometimes, regardless of the lipstick brand, you need a fresh start to get lips right. Good luck and I hope this helps. It may seem like a lot, but it's really just about patience and technique. I get so much bang for my buck and so many compliments (and a spring in my step) that it's absolutely worth it.

If this doesn't work...sorry. :/ I tried!

Roz Of all the 'drugstore' brands that I've tried, this rated 3 of the top 3. (And I have tried them ALL) It lasted longer than your average Revlon-style lipsticks, but not nearly as long as it advertises. Still, the color was lovely and the shine was a nice touch. The color can survive a kiss or a meal, but the gloss cannot and will leave rings on a wine glass, for example. Wears unevenly, leaving the inner lip bare with color around the edges..but if you're looking for an every day, perhaps something with a 3 hour stay (after that you'll be touching up, this is okay, but I'd rather invest in a more expensive lipstick, like Stila, that has staying power and wears evenly.

If you can't afford Stila, L'Oreal Infallible Lipcolor makes a lipstick that TRULY does stay...all day long. A little touch-up and it's on until bedtime. Beyonce Red is fabulous...no smudges, smears or wine-glass rings.

Too bad they aren't cruelty free. :(

*Tip* Both items last longer with lip balm and a great lip primer beneath, like Urban Decay's.

KellyKat I like it for work...apply and forget about your lipstick.

However, for dinner parties and going out...you have to do a mirror check to see if it is still there. Sometimes it is and others it is not.

Great for occasions where you are not eating...your napkin tends to wipe it away....but will stay put if just talking and sipping a drink.

Ultauser I put the gloss on for a 5 hr work shift and the gloss became sticky afer about an hr. The gloss was true to color, but with an hr left of my shift my mouth felt like there was tape or something on it that needed to be peeled off and it didn't come off very well, had to SCRUB with my toothbrush..

Jo I want to buy this in every color. It is the longest lasting lip color I have ever used. I put it on once in the morning and it lasted ALL DAY. no reapplication. It is amazing. You can even eat and drink and it doesnt leave a mark on the glass.

Stefanye I love this stuff. I put the color on dry lips first. Let dry totally and then apply a light frosty shade over top to hightlight let set a mintue or so and then i may or maynot need the gloss. I use the gloss if I feel like my lips are getting dry and this fixes the problem. I have never found a lipstick High end or not that has the right color and staying power. LOVE IT LOVE IT. I would love it if you could come out with a few lightr colors and other colors. I sometime mix my colors to get the right shade. I have found to not reaplly the color once you have it on. It will only cake and personally I do not have except only after a sit down meal. I am very hard to please when it comes to lip products.

Michagoose I wanted to like this product so badly, It was the first all day color that is actually comfortable. Unfortunately for me the color cracks on the lips after about three hours. When I applied more product, it would create little balls on my lips. When I wanted to take it off, it proved to be near impossible to remove completely and I have to use make-up remover and scrubbing to remove it. I have used it with various lip liners including Revlon's own colorstay, MAC, Sephora, and Makeup Forever as well as alone and I have had the same cracking and balling Except with Makeup Forever the combination created a smudged crackle effect that was not attractive. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product.

Carissa doesn't smudge, stays all day, won't dry. I guess I was just expecting something more natural. This stuff is a bit shimmery, probably would work better with a liner too.
